OMG KAY. So tonight (technically last night, if we're counting the fact that it's currently 3am), I decided to have an impromptu "Bette" (the sitcom) marathon with myself on my couch. There are only 18 episodes in total, and even though I've probably seen all of them more times than I have blinked in my life, I think ended up watching about half of the series in one sitting. Because I have a life and all, and just because they're prime. But anyway, as I was watching them there was far too much joy to be contained within me, so after I finished my spontaneous lovefest, I decided to picspam the CRAP out of one of the episodes. And I realized going in that .0003% of you would care, but if you've have never heard of/seen Bette's (failed) self-titled sitcom that took place in 2000, I highly suggest checking it/this spam out. Even if you're not a fan, because it is hilarious as hell and there are a million one-liners and Bette is adorable in it, among many other reasons. And also because I spent like 14 trillion hours capping this stupid DVD and putting this together, but I WAS BORED, so whatever.

So, this is episode number 6, titled Color of Roses. And there's even a link at the end for you to watch the entire episode if you are so inclined (and after viewing this spam, I certainly hope you you should be).

Alright, let me introduce you to these lovely people. Bette plays...Bette, and the show itself basically just chronicles life for Bette as she gets into many and varied shenanigans all around Hollywood. She has a family on the show meant to mirror her husband and real-life daughter at the time, but they're obviously played by actors. The guy on the right in the first cap is her husband, Roy, the young girl is her daughter, Rose, the flamboyantly awesome guy in the orange shirt is her musical director, Oscar, and JOANNA GLEASON (Iloveher) is her assistant/right hand-woman, Connie. At the beginning of the episode, Bette's looking for someone new to produce her new album, and Oscar is basically fawning all over himself to do it since he wrote the song though won't admit this to Bette. But then all of a sudden she's just like, "HeyOscarbestfriendyoushoulddoit!" And he's like, "Oh, no. Me? ...Well, okay, IF YOU INSIST."

"How about Puff Daddy?" "...You made him cry." "Oh, yeah. That was fun."

And then the theme song plays and it's good times. WHO LOVES MEEEEEEE EVEN THOOOOUGH I'M CRAAAAZY.

Bette apparently gets lost like a little puppy on her way to the studio, but then she reunites with Connie and they do this adorable little phone snap thing. And Bette announces her entrance and people cheer. RIGHTFULLY SO, PEOPLE. Oscar soon shows up and they go into the studio. Bette is baffled by the lack of a band, and when Oscar tells her they're going to try the song simply, this quote results:

"No, no, no, I'm your clay, you're Van Gogh, just mold me." "Yes, Van Gogh was a painter." "That phony British accent certainly has taken you a long way, hasn't it?"

Bette is basically ADD to the max and gets distracted every 4 seconds. First she wants them to turn up the heat, then she wants to make sure Connie is fed (AND BLOWS HER A KISS ♥), and then they randomly start gossiping like the 12-year-olds they are. And Oscar is just like ...bored. As you can see in that last one there.

"Is it cold in here?" "Uh, no?" "Well I have a couple of cast-iron hooters that beg to differ."

They attempt to get more work done but Bette thinks they need to spice things up a bit, much to Oscar's dismay...

AND BETTE BUSTS OUT SOME BAND ACTION. And her backup singers, the Harlettes, show up, and she is pretty darn pleased with herself. Until she notices a reggae band from next door watching her work and awkwardly waves at them then demands that Oscar shoo them out.

"Stop, stop, stop! Turn the beat around, Oscar, I smell a hit!"

As Oscar goes to tell the band to scram, they offer him some ~magical pot-filled brownies, which he declines. (HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE A SHOW WITH POT BROWNIES? I'm just saying.) And then Connie comes in all flustered after running into N*SYNC (can you tell we were coming off of the 90s here) down the hall and she dashes off to go find them.

"Someone's been double-dipping from the estrogen bucket!"

Bette then brings in a Latin band? Because apparently shit like that is "really really fresh" in whatever universe she was living in. So she dances and makes weird faces, and then Connie comes back and announces that she 'accidentally kissed' one of the N*SYNC-ers, then she once again leaves to go hang with them and their 18-year-old selves.

"Your lipstick's a little smeary, deary..."

Once Connie leaves, Bette asks for a playback of the previous take, only to hear that there's some strange muttering overshadowing her voice. Which she soon discovers is Oscar expressing his distaste for all the nonsense she's putting him through. She tells him she knows he's stressed but she needs to get her adrenaline up, SO THEY JUMP ON TRAMPOLINES TOGETHER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STUDIO TO DO JUST THAT. (Are you in love with this show yet.)

And then, as if we didn't need any more reason to love her, BETTE. RAPS. She effing raps. And it's beautiful. And Roy, Rose, and Rose's boyfriend show up, and they play the song back and Bette bops around like the little gangster she is for them.

"Roses, roses, the color of roses, I wanna be on TV striking poses. Get me to Tar-get before it closes: I need to buy a lipstick the color of roses! Who put the HO in Hollywood?!"

After Oscar shuffles the fam out of the studio, Roy meets one of the reggae band-ers in the hallway, where he unknowingly takes the ~magic brownies and GETS TOTALLY HIGH OUT OF HIS MIND. Bette walks into the food lounge where he is aimlessly munching away, and she is, for the hundredth time in this episode, baffled. She listens to him make a ridiculous, on-drugs speech about how when you get chip crumbs on your shirt you have to change it and stand naked in front of God (I'm not making this up), and that's what Bette should be singing about, so...

She hires a choir to get her gospel on and does yet another rendition of the song she's been attempting to record for the past 15 minutes of the show. And it's ridic on a stick. Then Oscar gets so fed up he just up and leaves, and Connie shows up not long after, downtrodden over the fact that N*SYNC only wanted to be with her because she could buy them booze. Poor Connie.

"Then they threw my purse out the window and left me at a 7-11." "Well, boy bands will be boy bands."

And, okay. I was going to screencap this next and final part, but then I realized that would suck 99.9% of the beauty out of it, so please just view what happens once Bette finds Oscar and agrees to sing the song like he wanted her to all along. And I wish you could see this in higher quality because at points there are tears in her eyes and just. I cannot even. VIEW. LOVE. REPEAT.

Okay, so, spontaneous Janney!spam time. I don't know what it is about her, but ever since I've been home this woman has been my go-to muse for all aspects of life. I'd always been a casual fan, but that first night I saw 9 to 5, something inside me just...clicked with her. I don't know why or how, but the moment she stepped out on that stage, she took my heart, she grabbed onto it, and she hasn't let go since. I loved everything about her as Violet. Not to mention that otherwise, 1) she's talented as hell, 2) she's down to earth, 3) she apparently enjoys spinning in circles with Ellen Degeneres when drunk (sidenote: I idolize her for the pre-interview dancing alone), and 4) and she is, quite literally, everything under the sun ~~that we all know she shines like~~. (That was my attempt at wit. Pretty sure it failed.) But, truly, fangirl obsession of the moment award goes to Allison. With so much time on my hands in the summer, I always, without fail, end up with an obnoxiously gigantic new one. Because my life is batshit ridiculous. And sometimes it just feels damn good to have someone new to flail over and derive inspiration from. This year, I'm pretty sure it's dear ol' Janney. WITH GOOD REASON.

Friends cut complete.

Nothing at all personal. Some of you have been with me for a good, long while now, and some of you I just recently added: and in both cases, I apologize. I just needed to make more time for myself right now, and that meant downsizing. Chances are if we didn't really talk outside of Livejournal or we hardly shared any interests, you were cut. And if we didn't really have anything in common or we weren't mutually commenting each other anyway, what was the point?

I think it's pretty childish to say "I'll consider it" if you want to be added back, like it's some game and you have to beg to be let back in. But I'm really trying to stick with these decisions, though if, for whatever reason, you think I made a mistake or you absolutely want to be added back, drop me a message or get a hold of me otherwise.

So, I know the Desperate Housewives cast!spam ended up winning the vote for which picspam I would do first. I KNOW. But last night the world had different plans for me and I started editing pictures of Babs and just couldn't. stop. so I was like lolwhatever and I made the executive decision to OVERRIDE you fools. Except it's really not that big of a deal, because I'll probably just end up spamming you with my favorite Wisteria Lane ladies sometime in the next week or so anyway. Because I definitely have a life. So fret not, Flicka/Marcia/Dana fans, your time will soon come.

But seriously, though, I have found Barbra is like the easiest thing ever to picspam because she's so gorgeous, but in such a distinct way. I think this is probably the most fun I've ever had putting a picspam together, more than likely because there were a million and one pictures I wanted to use and I could barely bring myself to actually stop and post it. Okay, mighty f-list. I've had the idea for this post in my head for a while, but as I feel like my posts have been a little on the boring side lately, and also because this upcoming week promises to be a monotonous one for me, I've decided to bust it out now. And I'm taking a chance with putting this out there, so be your awesome selves and don't let me down. MMMK.

I don't even know where the idea for this came from, but over the past...well, I don't even know how long, really, I guess I've begun to realize how much I love talking about inspiration. Not necessarily just the people that inspire me, but the people that inspire everyone I come into contact with. And one of the things I love about Livejournalers is the fact that a good majority of the people on here really seem to get it. They not only get why I look up to the people I do, but the reasons why I do so. The reasons that are hard to put into words. And maybe this doesn't apply to everyone, but I know that the large majority of people on my friends list seem to have a few select people who have a place over all others in their eyes.

For me, it's probably fairly obvious after having been my friend for even a short period of time who the women are that mean the most to me. It's always been pretty interesting to me who I've been drawn to and why. Throughout my teen years, I guess you could say that I've mostly gravitated towards the 'bubbly blondes': my first real 'idol' was Kristin Chenoweth, and then came Felicity Huffman, and most recently, there was the one and only Bette Midler. And along the way there have been countless others, of course -- Idina, and Michelle, and Tina, and Meryl, and Sally, and goodness, I feel bad even beginning to make a list because I know I'd be leaving out so many others -- but those three have been the ones who have meant the absolute most to me. To me, one of the most brilliant feelings in the world is that of discovering a new 'obsession', I suppose one would call it; how you just want to learn everything about them and watch every movie they've ever been in and get your hands on every piece of music they've ever recorded, etcetera, etcetera. Does anyone else get that? I've had multiple conversations with several different people over the years about these kinds of feelings: on one hand, I wish everyone in the world was able to feel them, because they are marvelous, but at the same time...it's nice to know that these feelings can be something special and unique and all your own, even if you've got other people (online or in real life) to share them with.

And this is turning rambly, so I now digress. If you'd like to discuss anything I just mentioned, or even anything related in any way, I'm all for discussing it. But onto what will probably be the crux of this post:

So, friends, tell me: who is it that inspires you?
If you want, tell me why they're such an inspiration to you. I know it's often hard to articulate in words what exactly it is about a person you love, especially an idol, but if you'd like to elaborate then I'd be absolutely delighted to read what I have to say. Or you can tell me what made you 'fall' for them in the first place, if that's more relevant. Or don't tell me at all, and just say it with images.

And don't stop there. This is an entry to post the pictures that mean the most to you of the people that mean the most to you. The quotes of theirs that you want to plaster all over everything you come into contact with, and even the little quirks that nobody but you seems to notice but still mean the world to you all the same. Young or old, living or dead, woman or man, celebrity or not. Nothing is off-limits. I want to hear about the people that inspire you; the people that have shaped you into who you are today; the people you couldn't imagine living life your without.

I'm obviously fully aware that for a good number of you, I could probably pinpoint who it is you'll choose with little hesitation. But this is the post to tell me why you love them and what they mean to you -- and for you to read about who those people are for others, as I, for one, think it'll completely interesting to see what everyone has to say.

I'll more than likely add my thoughts into a comment of my own in the days to come. But I'm going to leave this public, so if, for whatever reason, you would like to share this with your f-lists (And I would absolutely love it if you could!) and have them come on over here and post their inspirations, by all means, please do. I want this post to be bursting at the seams with pictures, quotes, love, and everything else in-between. If you want to leave more than one comment, go for it. And if you leave a comment at all, I thank you in advance for putting up with me and my strange ideas.

Eta number 2: I finally found the time to add my thoughts to this. I don't know how many of you will see this since it's about a week and a half later, but they're here, nonetheless, mostly just for the purposes of my own reflection. Just Bette for now.

Okay, so, there's this woman named Bette Midler. I don’t even know how to accurately describe how large of an infatuation I have with this woman. Because it truly still baffles me to this day.

I still remember how it all started. One night last summer, I was sitting on the couch when my dad barged in and took control of the remote, putting on a re-run of Bette on Oprah. And I was basically just irked over the fact that he was subjecting me to watch it in the first place, but at the same time, I felt something about this quirky little blond woman on my tv screen. I watched her giggle and make cute faces, and gawk over her daughter, and sing a song about salads, and prance around the stage with her gaggle of feather-clad dancers – and from that day on, I was hooked. I bought all her CDs, I rented all her movies, and I came to love and respect her more than I ever thought possible. It was bigger than any other ‘obsession’ of mine that I’d had before, because simply put, by that point in my life, I just…knew how to obsess over something, as peculiar as that sounds. I knew how to give myself over to her and let myself become such a huge fan, and I just...did it. I honestly think I said it best back when I was first starting to fall for her: “She's the kind of quirky and extroverted that I always wished I could be, but never was. She's the kind of brash that hardly ever comes off annoying or in-your-face. She's the kind of bubbly that's so beyond lovely and contagious that it makes me want to ram my head into a wall from the absolute insanity of it all.” Throughout the course of her career, she’s just done so much and been so many different things: an actress, a singer, a performer, a wife, a mother. And she has talent. An odd-girl-out from Hawaii who made her way to New York so she could do what she was most determined to do: become a legend. More than likely part of the reason this ultimately happened is because she’s notoriously famous for being brash and bawdy, and she’s completely unabashed when it comes to speaking her mind. I am fascinated with the way she rose to such fame early in her career – she cut records in little apartments and became biffs with Barry Manilow, eventually blew up into this madly popular Broadway star, had her own tv specials, got nominated for an Oscar, and took the entire world by storm from that point on. And she has so much passion all that she does in life. So much. She constantly talks about how much her career truly means to her and how she could never give it up, and in her personal life, she’s stated that becoming a mother was the best thing she could ever possibly do. She’s had her own production company and starred in dozens of movies, dipping into every possible form of media, started an organization that’s cleaned up thousands of acres of city parkland, toured the world a million and one times over and won numerous Grammys and Emmys, along with a Tony, and now, at age 63, she’s strutting her stuff in Vegas better than almost anyone else who’s ever graced a stage before. The thing I love the most about her, though, is probably the stark contrast between her on-stage personalities and her off-stage self. Obviously she’s far more over-the-top in real life than your average celebrity (though I feel like she has become a bit more subdued over the course of her career, which is certainly to be expected), but put this girl on a stage and she’ll start to slip into characters no one has ever seen before, belt her guts out, fire off dirty jokes left and right – and I feel like that’s how it’s always been with me, as well: I’m typically one of the most reserved people you could ever come across, but thrust me into the spotlight and I’m anything you want me to be.

And there are so many odd little quirks of hers that I love to bits that I could list, but I would be here for days and days. Like how her eyes get all squinty when she smiles, how her laugh is probably the most infectious laugh of anyone I’ve ever heard, how I think about her and motivate myself to be the be as brazen as I can when I have to give a performance of any kind. ♥

"You know, I like people to make me laugh. It’s the only way to survive. The whole thing, after all, is one big joke. So, whatever anyone wants to think about me is fine. That’s what I’m here for, that’s my role. I can be an object of love, hate, it doesn’t matter. As long as I like myself."

In theory, this would have been so much bigger and better and more elaborate, like I've envisioned it in my head, but with the time crunch I'm under right now, this shall have to suffice. In honor of the fact that I re-watched Hairspray for the first time in months today, and therefore my Velma/Michelle Pfeiffer love has OBVIOUSLY been rekindled in a larger-than-life way, I have spent the past few hours putting together this little gem of a picspam:

So, the ever-so-epic Bette post that I've been talking about for ages now is finally all done! I (well, technically Malvina) found the idea for this whole 'thing' in an icon community a while back, and from the moment I saw it, I knew I had to draw up one of my own for the wonder that is Bette Midler. As I've been working on it in relatively small chunks here and there, the entire thing has taken me just about a week to get done in its entirety - and it has been an absolute blast to work on, so I truly hope you guys love reading it as much as I loved putting it all together. So sit back, relax, and enjoy:

A personalized alphabet completely devoted to anything and everything Bette!

Also, I'm going to leave this post public, just for... the sake of it being shared with the world. That is all.

A is for amuck.
Even though I am probably biased due to the fact that I am of the opinion that Hocus Pocus is the most kick-butt piece of cinematic genius ever created, Bette's character in said film, Winifred Sanderson, is a total BAMF. Demonstrated here, as she tells it like it is to her kooky sister Sarah:

B is for Bette Davis.
Bette takes the namesake of the incomparably talented Hollywood star Bette Davis. Her mother named each of Bette's sisters in the same fashion (Susan and Judy, after Susan Hayward and Judy Garland), though she thought Bette Davis pronounced her name "bet," hence the pronunciation of Miss M's name.

C is for cutest nose EVAR.
Call me a creep, but I love Bette's nose. I DEE KAY WHY. I just think it's so dainty and adorable, and I love when she crinkles it up in that unbearably cute little smile of hers. Observe:

D is for dressing room of kick ass-ery.
Please observe the following video as Bette gives a tour of her current dressing room in Vegas and discusses it in all its awesome. I mean, I know she must spend a lot of time in there, but DEAR LORD is it large. For God's sakes, SHE HAS A BARISTA! Which is clearly just one more reason why I, oh, I don't know... need to be her. (Or become trained as a barista, at least, so I can jet off to Vegas and become her new barista slash bff slash whatever else would come with the job.) And she has Frank Sinatra's piano?! WHAT EVEN? Also, I might be really obsessed with the fact that they all sing "In These Shoes" at the end. Might.

E is for eighties hair.
The eighties were, in general, not a very good time for hairstyles. But Bette sure did know how to ROCK those oh-so-tacky perms of the era:

F is for farewell, Johnny Carson.
So, once upon a time, Bette was the last guest EVAR on the Johnny Carson show, or in her own words, "the last fool Mr. Carson will have to suffer gladly." She sang him a wonderfully lovely song called "One for My Baby (And One More for the Road)" as a final send-off, and it was adorable, heart-breaking, lovely, and any other interchangable adjective of the sort. The performance won her an Emmy Award, and during her most recent interview with Oprah, she said that said night still remains one of the best of her life. Picture plus video to follow, of course:

G is for Grammys, much?

Bette is a four-time Grammy Award-winner. (TALENT, YO.) The two most notable of her wins were Best New Artist in 1973, as well as Record of the Year for Beaches' "Wind Beneath My Wings." Observe as she shows off the latter:

H is for Hulaween.
Every year for Halloween, Bette hosts a benefit event to raise money for the New York Restoration project called Hulaween, and I believe that 2008 will be its 13th year. Basically, it's just a giant party where a bunch of celebs (...and people who can afford the $6,000+ tickets) get dressed up really crazy to raise a ton of money for a good cause, and there's lots of food, live entertainment, and fun. AND BETTE GETS TO WEAR REDONKULOUSY CUTE COSTUMES.

Also: DANA DELANY was there in '05! Dressed as a freakin' school-girl, no less. (I may or may not have had a minor spaz moment when I discovered said fact. Not a big deal.)

I is for, "I will never forget it, you know!"
During concerts, shows, and the like, Bette often slips into the beloved character of Sophie Tucker, also known as "the oldest living showgirl in the world," at the ripe old age of 93. Sophie's signature catchphrase is, "I will never forget it, you know," and she is famous for her vulgar, dirty jokes and wacky life observations. (Bette is also quite known for her crazy character of Delores Delago - the toast of Chicago - who is a mermaid that makes her way around the stage with a giant tail in a wheelchair.) What follows is "Sophie's" act during Bette's concert-turned-movie, Divine Madness:

J is for just lay there!
Alright, so, backstory here. A couple nights ago, when I was just, y'know, cruising the interwebs for Bette Midler videos at 3am instead of sleeping, I came across this darling little gem of her on Jay Leno quite a few years ago. To be honest, the majority of it is her complaining about how much of a suck-fest her sitcom was (LOLNICEBETTE), but when Jay asks her about "marital obligations," ...well. Begin watching at 4:34 and observe. Just, the way she says it and giggles incessantly is so cute and adorable and oh my GOD, idek. (The first time I watched it, as I said, it was like... 3 in the morning, I cracked up so hard that spit went everywhere, and I literally had to restrain myself from laughing any harder than I was so I wouldn't wake up everyone else in my house. It was a special moment. So thanks for that, Bette.)

K is for kimono.
When Bette was nominated for an Oscar in 1980 for The Rose (~~SALLY FIELD~~), she wore a freakin' PURPLE KIMONO to the awards ceremony. As socially unacceptable as that would be today, it was just barely the '80s at the time... so she got away with it. Lucky her, eh? (Though then again, she could wear a garbage bag as a dress and I would probably still worship the ground she walks on, SO. Not like it's a big deal or anything.)

L is for laughter.
Bette's a cutie ~~when she laughs~~ all the time. But mostly when she laughs.

M is for marriage to Martin von Haselberg.
On December 16, 1984, Bette wed her now-husband of 23 years, Martin von Haselberg in Las Vegas. Bette was 39 at the time of their wedding, and though they only knew each other for a very short time beforehand, they have been happily married ever since. They had their only daughter, Sophie, in December of 1986, and to this day the three of them continue to be ADORBZ with a capital A.

N is for "Nobody Else But You."
In 2000/2001, Bette had a self-titled half-hour sitcom with a theme song called "Nobody Else But You." While there was supposedly much behind-the-scenes tension, a whole lot of over-acting, and it was cancelled after one season, I have to say that it's basically the ultimate television experience of all time. All of the 16 episodes are up on Youtube/Veoh, and over the past few nights, Malvina and I have flailed, squealed, and laughed uncontrollably over every single one of them - in my opinion (though apparently like, 99.9% of the world would beg to differ), the scripts were hilariously written, the entire cast was perfect for each of their roles, and Bette was just so DARN CUTE, especially considering the fact that nearly all of the episodes revolved around poking fun at her in some way or another. Also? Bette wears really sweet pants in every single episode, and I kid you not, seeing what pair of awful, tacky 90s pants she's going to wear next is seriously half the fun. (Malvina and I have discovered that she's pretty partial to leather ones. And yellow ones. And blue, metallic, glitter ones.) What follows is one of the most hilarious of the series, episode 12, titled "Of Men and Meatballs" (Note the blue pants. NOTE THEM.):

O is for OMGCROSSFANDOM.

P is for Puddles!
So, apparently Bette has/had at one time a Jack Russell Terrier named Puddles, but it woes me to no end that I am not able to find ANY good pictures of the two of them together. (There is this really sweet one of her, Sophie, and Puddles, but that's pretty much all I've been able to come across.) I'm pretty sure she doesn't have Queen Puddles von Haselberg (HOW CUTE OF A NICKNAME IS THAT) anymore, but I did read somewhere that she now owns a poodle? I'm honestly not sure, but I thought it was simply too adorable of a tidbit not to be included.

Q is for queen-dom.
She was a queen at the '77 Grammys. Literally.

R is for restoration... of the New York-sort.
In 1995, Bette founded the New York Restoration Project, a non-profit organization that was created "in the belief that clean, green neighborhoods are fundamental to the quality of life, and that every community in New York City deserves an oasis of natural beauty." So far, they have cleaned up 875 tons of trash and refurbished over 400 acres of park lard. (SNAPS FOR YOU, BETTE MIDLER!)

T is for Titsling vs. Brasseire.
This is probably the scene from Beaches that made me go all "what the FRAK" more than anything (though I gotta say, the "Oh, Industry" scene was pretty mind-numbing, as well), but seriously? She's singing a song about bras. How that show ever made it to Broadway in the first place, even in a fictional sense, makes absolutely no sense to me, but HEY. It is fairly entertaining.

U is for unbelievably good quotes.
While it's true that nearly everything Miss Midler says is divine, she does have a good number of quotes that I am very, very fond of. The woman has a way with words, I'm tellin' ya!

Bette's current two-year run in Vegas at Caesars Palace, "The Showgirl Must Go On," is a definite necessity on my part. And should be on yours, too, clearly. (What can I say? I AM POWERLESS TO RESIST AGAINST MASS AMOUNTS OF FEATHERS AND SEQUINS.)

W is for "Wind Beneath My Wings."
As emo-inducing as it may be, I'm fairly certain "Wind Beneath My Wings" is THE most quintessential Bette Midler song... ever. It was her biggest-selling number, and rightfully so, not to mention the fact that she won a Grammy for it and it was the theme song of one of the most tear-jerking movies of all-time. Whoever made the following montage is clearly a winner in my book, but I think I have to say that my favorite performance out of the lot is the one from the Grammys where she's wearing the grey suit, especially because of that whole deal she does at 2:49. Could she be any more passionate about her work? OH MY GOD.

X is for x-treme look-a-like daughter, Sophie.
First, let me just put it out there that I would like to BE Bette Midler's daughter. Not necessarily be Sophie, but just... be her daughter in general. Because, really, THINK ABOUT IT. Would it not be the greatest thing under the sun if your mother was Bette Midler?! (There is only one acceptable answer to that question, and it sure as heck is not no.) But, regardless, Bette has a 21-year-old daughter Sophie that looks exactly. like. her. Honestly, it's quite scary how much of a resemblance the two share, and in my opinion, they could probably pass as sisters at first glance. Plus, THEY'RE ADORABLE, and Bette has stated on many occasions that becoming a mother was the best thing she's ever done with her life. What's not to love?

(I love the way Bette's looking at her in the one on the bottom left. I would keysmash about it, but it would probably ruin the precious moment... so I'll refrain.)

Y is for, "YOU DON'T OWN ME."
As corny as The First Wives Club is, and as much as Diane Keaton just ticks me off in general, "You Don't Own Me" IS THE SHIZ. Quite possibly the most addicting song of all time? I think so. Every time I jam to the song and/or this video, I want nothing more than to run out into the streets and dance with the three of them.

Z is for zebra.

Look After You - A Tynnie Fanmix

(I got the whole general 'idea' for this post from the community fanmix - if any of you have never heard of it, I highly suggest checking it out, because it's a very neat concept and a great way to find new music and such.)

For my first fanmix, I decided I'd put together a little something for one of my favorite pairings, Tom and Lynette Scavo from Desperate Housewives - it includes six selections that, at least for me, exemplify the unwavering love they have for one another, despite the flaws they both may have at times. These two been through more than enough tough situations over the course of the past four seasons, but through it all, they've been able to stay strong and remain together as one.
